Lead free range

White metals can be of tin or lead based. The first one allows a better heat dissipation while the lead based presents a better corrosion resistance against acids, ammoniacal solutions and other chemicals.

Tin-based white metals are formed by a soft tin matrix reinforced by antimony and copper. These two elements can combine with tin to form tin-copper and tin-antimony intermetallic compounds that give strength to the final alloy.

Lead-based white metals

Lead-based white metals are formed by a soft lead matrix reinforced by antimony and copper. The microstructure is formed by tin-antimony intermetallic crystals distributed in the lead matrix. Nowadays, these alloys are less common due to the restrictions on the use of lead. Nevertheless, they are cheaper than tin-based white metals. Depending on the content of antimony and tin, there is a wide range of compositions available in the market. Several international standards establish the limits of composition.

Formats

We comply with the main norms requested by our customers. Furthermore, we produce custom-made white metals following the specific standards of our clients. Some of the standards require alloying with minor components.

Our experience and technology allow us to produce white ingots or billets by continuos casting process to assure a suitable microstructure. We also offer some alloys in a wire format for laser applications. Other formats in powder or paste are avalaible under request.
